We believe strongly in a healthy community. Beyond serving patients in a healthcare capacity, we strive to support and immerse in the community around us. We believe that a person’s health is a product of their environment. As such, a healthy community is one in which all residents have access to a quality education, safe and healthy homes, adequate employment, transportation, physical activity, and nutrition, in addition to quality health care. For this reason, you will find Puget Sound Family Health sponsoring and attending many events in Tacoma: Park(ing) Day, Bike-to-Work Day, SoundBites, and many others.

“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, or economic and social condition” (WHO, 1994).

Downtown Tacoma Partnership

In 1988, the Downtown Tacoma Business Improvement Area (BIA) was created to keep downtown safe and clean. As the city has grown, we have grown as well into the Downtown Tacoma Partnership. Today, we continue to maintain expansive safe and clean services, while also providing community beautification, transportation services, and retail support and recruitment. Look for our team keeping our downtown streets safe, clean, and welcoming. Established through a City of Tacoma ordinance, the Downtown Tacoma Partnership is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of property owners and their representatives. Our Board brings a wealth of experience and passion to Downtown Tacoma. From professional services to retail and from real estate to the arts, our board members represent a variety of organizations and residential buildings.

NextMove Internship

The NEXT MOVE Internship Program of Tacoma Public Schools works with the local business and non-profit community to design meaningful professional positions for high school juniors and seniors. By working alongside workers in a specific industry, students preview their future and gain increased enthusiasm for a career. This valuable experience assists them in acquiring many of the skills and occupational expertise needed in a field of interest. Through the NEXT MOVE Program, interns become more focused on their careers, as well as potential future educational options.

Downtown On the Go

Downtown On the Go envisions a vibrant, integrated downtown Tacoma – where daily life is enhanced by connecting people, green spaces, arts & culture, and jobs. Interdependent land-use policies and transportation options reinforce an active, compact urban core that is connected locally and regionally, promoting a focus on the movement and interactions of people rather than cars.

“I would give them a hundred stars if I could. First off, Doctor Rife is amazing! He has successfully helped get my daughter off strong medication. My daughter couldn’t walk due to severely painful arthritis and now she is a normal kid!! He was first my mother’s doctor and he also helped her figure out why she was getting constant debilitating migraines. Then Doctor Price helped my mother through chemotherapy and has been with her through her cancer. She has GREATLY improved her quality of life through it all. “
